LS3 OEM cam vs Sloppy Stage 2 Comparison
Hi All - we're building an LM4 with an auto trans for the $2025 Grassrootsmotorsports Challenge this year. Thus far we have the TBSS intake setup with the 85mmtbody and 36# injectors, Headers, and looking at what mild cam we can sneak into the budget dirt cheap. The Sloppy 2 is really the only "new" cam we can fit in budget at $100 shipped. We do have an LS3 OEM cam that we could budget in at ~$40 but unsure how closely they behave. We'd be doing something nastier if we weren't nursing the factory Trailblazer 5.3 Torque converter. It will have the 4L60 auto trans mated to a ZR2 3.73 LSD rear end. Target weight is 2600lbs but we'll see.
We're frankensteining an S10 Extreme with z-notching and shortening to improve weight and distribution. Drivetrain and cab will be moved back 6" and overall length shortened by 12". This will let us run the shorter trailblazer driveshaft. And yeah, it all needs to be done under $2025 and compete in autox and drag races.
Once done we'll be trying to figure out cheap/free tune that we can load with our HP tuners credits.
Thoughts from the crowd on the cam comparison?
