New Method For Pulling Cam Bearins
I was tearing down a junky LS that I got for cheap. The cam was very stuck so as one does I opened the rear cover and took a hammer and mallet to it, made some progress and finally it came out of the first journal. To my surprise it got stuck on the next journal... gave up on the cam and continued to pull the lower end after pulling the crank and a lot of crank bearing glitter I found the issue one cam lobe was larger than the rest because the bearing was seized on : ) first reaction was to throw the engine down a hill but then I found a hammer and chisel, in the end I managed to chisel off the bearing and rip it out with some vise grips.
In conclusion GMs afm will teach many new skills.

Were you tearing it down just as a learning experience? Because smacking a hammer and chisel around on a cam is a good way to hurt the block. It sounds like you were just tearing it down for fun, so no big deal. However, if you plan on rebuilding it, the block needs to be inspected really well before you do.
