Default Pressure drop & sender locations

I have a freshly built 540 Hp LS2 in my C6. It was shop built & installed by the previous owner (so no idea regarding bearing clearances) It has HCI and a std vol high pressure Melling pump. I am running a Wix Xp filter and VR1 10-30, the car has a Z06 oil cooler.

My issue is that I am seeing a ~20psi difference hot OE cluster oil pressure reading and an autometer electric plumbed into the drivers front of the block (pre-filter/cooler). After a commute, 48psi on the autometer, 27 on the cluster @800rpm. Cold its about 10psi difference. What makes it worse is after some autox hot laps I saw it as low as 16psi @ 800 rpm idle & 218 oil temp on the cluster (while the aftermarket gauge read 40psi). The new autometer gauge pressure matches the mechanical gauge connected to my Accusump plumbed in the same location so I have faith in it. I just replaced the OE sender with a new AC Delco part and no difference.

Is a 20PSI pressure drop hot between these two sensor locations (with the filter and cooler in between) typical?

Not typical per se, but the LS/LT oiling architecture does make the pressure differential you’re seeing greater. If you switched to a Dart block or similiar with priority main feeding, you’d see less of a difference. How big of a cooler setup setup are you running here?
