Default Help to find specs and opinions

Hi, long time reader, finally a member. My problem, found my set of Comp cams 6072-1 LS3 intake valves. Does anyone know/find the specs on them? I know they are not as light as the LS3 hollow stems. My G8 has the 5364 heads. They are back cut, polished and the stem narrowed. So I know they should flow better. My question is the weight? Is it less, more or the same as stock? Look forward to your answers.

100% it’s going to weigh more than your stock valves. How much more?….no idea. Looking up specs on the Comp valves, it says they weigh .45lb….I seriously doubt that’s what they weigh. that would be over 200 grams. Do you have a good scale?

The .45lb is the part with the box. I know the LS3 hollow valve is 88 grams. Stock is about 120 grams. Guess I wasn’t clear. I was comparing it to the stock L76/L92 intake valve weight. Im going to be doing a DOD delete and cam swap. Since the heads will be off. If the Comp valves weigh the same as the stock. Would the added flow be enough of a gain? Currently running 1.85 YT rockers with PAC 1215 springs. Kook’s mids. Solo exhaust,VCM intake.Doing a mild cam Cam Motion LS3 Stage1. Would I benefit more from the LS3 light weight or Comp valves flow?

You’re not going to see any gain from the change. You’d be just as well to find a GOOD shop and have a competition valve job done. The biggest flaw you have there, is the speed bump inside the bowl, where the seat sets. Pull an intake valve and run your finger over that area. All of the L92 style castings have this and need blended….that would be the biggest part of the competition valve job to contribute to airflow gains.

I may be incorrect on the source, so don't bury me. But IIRC, Tony Mamo (or some other respected builder on here) once told me that the undercut stems, at least on the intake side, actually flow less than non-undercut stems!! I find that hard to believe, but I don't know it all. Never met anyone who does, but the guy(s) that told me that should be in the know.....

Go to any pot shop and get a digital scale and weigh everything
