Default swap info

I have an 06 2500 HD 4x4 4L80e trans. The 6.0 is anemic power wise in the 2-3k rpm range. I am not very knowledgeable on LS swap internals so please forgive newbie questions. If LS engines have the same deck height, shouldn't you be able to put an L8T 6.6 crank, 6.098 stock rods or aftermarket, and .030 over L8T pistons in an LT4 L86 aluminum block and LS3 heads with port injection. I just want a tow engine. I tow in 3rd gear at 25-2600 rpm between 60-65 mph. Im sure some block clearance work would be needed. I don't need forged pistons as this engine will only be used for light to medium towing 6-8k trailer weight. Im assuming that .030 over pistons exist. Don't want the 6.2 rods and 4" stroke crank pistons that are short skirted. Stock L8T rot. assembly should work unless I have misunderstood what I have read. Have seen new L8T cranks for around $500, 4.095 (.030 over) LT4 L86 alum. block ready to build for $1098, and stock rods for $??. This sounds too easy, what am I missing or misunderstanding

Your 06 2500 is a Gen 3 motor and the LT4 L86 is Gen 4 at least - much, much newer technology. Different crank reluctor, different sensors and wiring on the outside of the engine compared to the 06 Gen 3 motor. Different PCM / TCM, different tuning. All I'm saying is that there is much more to this than the mechanical aspects.

I've done two LS engine and transmission swaps and I would not touch this one. But let's see what others have to say. Can it be done? Sure, with time, money, fab and tuning skills well beyond mechanical skills. Eyes open here for sure.
