Default Opinions on SLP ZL402

Hey,

I have a buddy whos looking to get a motor rebuild done this spring and came across this setup from SLP with a new decent price. Questions is, what is everyones opinions of SLP in general and maybe of this engine in specific or any info thoughts you could share would be of great help.

I don't anyone here running the SLP 402. However there are several (including myself) running or building the SDPC (sponsor here) LS2 402. There price is $3,995 for a shortblock including some LS2 parts that are required. I would also consider Rapid Motorsports (another sponsor here).

What kinda power are these motors making with a decent set of heads (afr) with 90/90 ?

I have it in my car, still tuning it, havent dyno it yet , but it went 10.80 @ 129mph the other day on a very safe tune. I need to hook up the knock sensors so I can start to tune in some timing(I only have about 20.5 total in it now.) I'm very happy with it.
