Default ls2 over ls1

hey can i take out my ls1 and put in an ls2 in my 99 Z28 if i can how much power can i expect to get

Sure.

The power you are going to get depends on how you go about doing it. If you were to get a crate LS2 from GM, you would get the 400hp/400tq that the standard LS2 comes from. If you were to have it built with different heads/cam, or even one of the stroker LS2's, you could have basically any combination you'd like.

I would suggest putting some decent research into this, calling up companies who manufacture them, etc. There's a decent amount involved in this which many not seem apparent without the proper information.

It'd be cheaper to just build your LS1. Externally they are no different. ALso, all LS2s are equipped with a Drive-by-wire TB, you'll need to reuse your stock F-body TB for it to work.

Not true unless you get a crate motor .... also I think there is a fix for that that allows you to wire the LS2 TB to the LS1 PCM and make it work.

The way to do it would be to put the ls6 manifold on the ls2 and anybodys 90 mm cable tb. Hook your cam sensor to the front of the engine and you will be good to go. Your stock pcm could be tuned to maximize your extra cubic inches although I bet it would not be necessary. The ls2 is making more power with the ls6 manifold.
