Default LS2 Timing Chain/Gears

I am looking for an aftermarket double row timing chain and gears for an LS2. Does anyone know if there are any being marketed yet or if any of the ones for LS1 will work?

The LS2 timing chain is a pretty tough piece as it is. I'm running it for my LS2 402 stroker and I'm confident it will hold fine. You can run a double chain on the LS2, but like the LS1/LS6 block you will have to shim the oil pump for clearance.

We looked into this back when we first started building our LS2 402. We are working with a very reputable company that has built us a double row timming set for the LS2. We recieved a sample not long ago, and just recently turned in an order. We hope to have them on the shelf in the next 30 to 45 days. I will see what pricing is and let everyone know.

I've had a double timing chain in my car for 3 or 4 months now. It is working just fine thanks. I shop in Pickering, Ontario, Canada... Full Throttle Racing custom made them for me. They are not sponsors on this forum so I can pm contact info to whoever requests it from me.

If it's not perfect, trouble could be ahead! We have made sure that our timming set will work as a stock GM one would, but be a little stronger.

New Era Performance has the JP performance double rollers for the LS2. That's what I got and it comes with all the parts needed for fitting.

Looks like we are still about 45 to 60 days out. They had a prototype done but had clearance issues with the front cover so they made some changes to fix that problem. Now we are just waiting for them to get the production run finished and shipped. As soon as we get them I will put up a post on it.

I have one of ERA Pref. double rollers on my new aluminum LS2 418cid and its a very nice and well built timing chain and fit tight and sends the oil pump spacers and bolt and thrust bearing with it , and is adjustable .I would recommend it to any one that building a LS2. And has NO clearance problem with the cover or oil pump. you wont be disappointed. And can't beat the price.

Will it be OK to use the LS2 timing set on a 1998 LS1?

I orderd new stock LS1 gears and a LS2 chain to replace when I change cams.
It looks like the dealer ordered LS2 cam gear instead of a LS1 gear to go with the LS2 chain. Can I use this cam gear or should I reorder one for a 1998 LS1?

Thanks,
JC
