LS7 block question

LS7 block question I am debating with someone on another site. He claims the LS7 uses a different casting than the C5R block. I say they are the same. I have Googled for info, but I can not find that specific data.

to my knowledge the LS7 is based on the C56 but isnt the same casting... I dont really feel like rereading the article in almost every GM car mag... Might be able to get some more info there...
