Default LS7 block question

I am debating with someone on another site. He claims the LS7 uses a different casting than the C5R block. I say they are the same. I have Googled for info, but I can not find that specific data.

to my knowledge the LS7 is based on the C56 but isnt the same casting... I dont really feel like rereading the article in almost every GM car mag... Might be able to get some more info there...

From what I understand, the block is a totaly different casting. The LS7 block will be more of a production style block. The C5R block has to go through a very expensive process of testing so it drives the price of the part up. GM I'm sure took alot of the things they have learned from the C5R and aplied it to the production LS7 block. I would look at it as a "Sportsman" version of the C5R.
