Question about swapping LS2 into 98z ?

Question Question about swapping LS2 into 98z ?

I have a chance at getting a 05 LS2 i was wondering what has to be done to put a LS2 into a 98z my engine is totally blown. Also i plan on getting my car tuned at East Side Performance here in CT i plan on removing the AIR and EGR system also taken out the AC ill live without the AC hardly ever used it when i had it so i figure ill save a about 50 pounds of junk. But i have chance at getting a 04 LS6 complete long block or a 05 LS2 for a bit more i like to get the LS2 but i thought i saw somewhere that the LS6 intake wouldnt bolt up. They would both make the same amount of power which would be a better choice? and the LS2 has under 1k while the LS6 has 2.3k also i plan on getting Pacesetters LT with y-pipe and high flow cats bolted to my Borla 3inch cat back. Thanks i hope someone can give me some insight.

I would go with the LS2. Everything pretty much bolts right up, including the LS6 intake.

You should check out the SDPC thread on the LS2, it answers many of the swap questions.

The LS2 will fit perfect in your car!! I would for sure use the LS6 intake, unless you plan to make other mods to the motor. The main thing you have to do is extend your cam sensor harness, and your knock sensor harness. You will also want to install LS1/LS6 knock sensors on each side of the block. Yeah well i decided to get the LS6 1 reason is its in PA i'm from CT i might just save some time and pick it up my self and the LS2 is in GA. But KJ i need a oil pan how much would that run me? Also can u get any deals on PaceSetter Exhaust Ceramic-Coated Race-Style Long Tube Headers, 1998-2002 LS1 F-Body without Emissions Fittings w/ Y-pipe and high flow cats? Ill be happy with the LS6 i dont really plan on going insane ill probably just put the Headers and get a LS6 intake for it since the guy needed the one off it. My motor destroyed the oil pan too. Last Night i got the whole front suspension the engine block and tranny out from the under the car. engine has some serious damage hopefully today ill get the motor off the kmember and get some good pics of the damage. Also KJ can u get stock water pumps? i need to get one. Thanks

We can for sure help you with an oil pan & water pump!!!

Oil pan $184.64 comes with gasket & bolts
Water pump $205.00

As for the Pace Setter headers, we are not a dealer for them. But we are a dealer for Flowtech, Hooker, Edelbrock, Dynatech, and Kooks.
