LS2 Cam question...
Stock, the LS2 comes with an early LS6 cam (like the 2001 385hp Z06 had), so in theory if the later LS6 cam added 20hp to the Z06 (385 to 405), it might do the same for the LS2 (400 to 420). So what do you think it'd dyno at? 350-360 to the wheels? I've got 1 3/4" headers and an LS6 intake manifold already, which gained me around 20rwhp on my LS1, so I guess I might be around 370-380 to the wheels if I keep the LS6 cam... And maybe break 400 if I put in my 224/0.581? 400rwhp seems almost realistic, since I'll have the 6.0L instead of a 5.7, and the LS2's got LS6 heads (which'd flow better than my old stock LS1 heads did).
So what rwhp do you think I'd get with the LS6 cam? And what with my 224/0.581? I don't really want to go much bigger, because I like the way the 224 acted and drove in my LS1. Do the 20 extra cubes justify a slightly larger cam? Or would I be throwing away $350 for a new cam that gets me maybe 10 more rwhp at peak, and makes it lose low-end torque and idle at 1000rpm?
All opinions welcome.
The 224 cam should be fine for the LS2 and will probably act like an LS6 with a couple more cubes.
They dropped the first one loading it into the truck, and had another one coming out of another customers car a week later, and now they haven't got time to take it out for a couple weeks. So 3-4 weeks from now they'll have a bunch of low-mileage LS2's for sale again.
