Default Sorry to be a newb - Looking for N/A 500rwHP

I've been looking all yesterday and today thru the forums at the best way to get to 500+rwHP N/A and really haven't found many conclusive answers. The thing that I HAVE found is that a 402/408 with the right heads and cams should be enough to put me over this mark. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good shop/vendor that makes longblocks with everything you already need ready to go? I've searched and it seems that everyone has a different opinion on which block to get with which head and that cam, etc. Wondering if there was something that came completely assembled with all the essentials. Also looking to possibly add some spray to it (175 shot?), but that could probably just be worked out with lower CR heads.

Looking to get the 06 GTO (finally deciding to go with this rather than my other options) and I have some big plans for it, want to plan things out now so I have a clue as to how much I will need save up.

Thanks for your patience folks.

As you've already found: big cubes, big cam, big heads. Scoggin-Dickey has a nice long block that is reasonably priced. They've sold many. Look for the 402 thread, it's the biggest thread in the LS2/LS7 area and should be up top.

With the stock motor in the GTO, you could get close to that with FULL extensive bolt-ons. It may be a lower cost options as compared to buying a complete motor then swapping it.

You aren't worried about warranty with the 06 GTO because you plan on changing most of the drivetrain - you might want to look at saving $12k+, buy a used 2004 in nice shape. There's your money for the stroker and supporting mods.

05 and 06 GTOs already have the ls2 in it. All you need is a rotating assembly for your motor, not the entire shortblock. Youll still want heads and cam though.

We have LS2 402 cid short-blocks starting at $3,800 with a new LS2 block, so I would buy a new engine and sell the stock LS2! That's what we did with our C6's. We have built quite a few long-blocks for customers. Just let me know what heads you're wanting to use, and I can work up a complete estimate so you know exactly what it will cost you. Just post up with your e-mail address or e-mail me at trevor@texas-speed.com letting me know that you're interested in a 402 cid LS2 long-block, and I will e-mail you back with an itemized estimate. The GTO's seem to sap more power in drivetrain loss vs. the f-body and Corvette, but the right setup will still get you in the neighborhood of 500 RWHP. One of our customers that bought a 408 cid from us put down 539 RWHP in his six-speed C5 through full exhaust. We can have the engine fully-assembled so all you would have to do is pull your stock one and drop the new one in.

Feel free to contact me via phone, PM, or e-mail at trevor@texas-speed.com with any questions or concerns!

You could buy a stock Viper or stock 06 ZO6 instead of the goat.

Except for the fact that you have ahd to be 'on the list' about 5-6 months ago to even think that you are going to get a shot at one. Dealership and demand have driven the price up to 75+.

Just like the GT40...... its only 125k but with the prices being driven by demand and knowing that the dealership is going to make money off of you.... you may as well add 50k..... which is about what they have been going for.
