Default 405HP Z06 cam

Picking up a stock LS2 crate motor...I know it uses the 385HP LS6 cam but before I put the crate motor in, I'm thinking about using the 405HP LS6 cam if I can find it at a cheap price. Budget is getting slim right now so I can't afford a $800 cam/spring kit...

Can I expect a 20hp at the crank increase using the 02-03 LS6 cam? I will have a tune, 160* stat, headers, 2.5 xpipe, and cold air.

Would this be a direct swap? I believe I should be able to use the current springs and pushrods correct?

Thanks
Nick

It would be a dirrect swap and the sprigs you have should be fine. Another cam to think about....... We have what we call the Z-plus cam, and it will work with your stock springs also. Here are the specs....
220/224 .551/.551 on a 114 lobe sep Your cost $308.75. Just a thought, let me know if I can help with anything

Im gonna see if I can find a LS6 cam first.

Newbie question...what is the proper way of tightening the rockers? Just torque em down to 22ft/lbs all at once or role the motor over and follow a specific order? I've seen both...first one seems easiest.

Thanks
Nick

If it were me I would role the motor over & do it in the correct order just to be safe.

Well I found one at a decent price...

So is it safe to say I should see an additional 20hp at the crank in an LS2?

Thanks
Nick
