My new LS2 crate & knock sensor location
I know that the new LS2 knock sensors are different, and I had read that they were located in the lifter valley and not the side of the block. I had also read that there were holes in the sides of the block that were plugged and could be used for LS1 sensors.
Well I got the thing un-crated and noticed that there are (what surely look to be) knock sensors moutned in the side of the block near the engine mount brackets.
I was wondering what the differences might be between an 05 and 06 engine, maybe this is one of them?

05 LS2 pic
Handdrill + M10 Handtap + 5 min and you'll be screwing LS1 knock sensors into both sides......in the same location as the usual LS2 knock sensors.
Some people even manage to use existing spare M10 tapped holes somewhere there to screw the ls1 sensors straight into.

I just tune them out. If you trust your fuel and tuning, why bother.
HSV-GTS-300: I wonder if the sensitivity is as good on the sides of the block as in the galley?? Glad you found a good solution, but wonder if the LS1 sensors work as well (or better) in that location?
