LS2 Short block C5 Transplant’s Check In
Hello All,
On this board, there is one hell of a deal on a LS2 402 stroker motor short block. The jest of the post is to find out what components I can bolt onto the LS2 short block from my LS1 currently installed in my C5.
Will the following components bolt up correctly? Note these parts will be removed from my currently installed LS1 motor and transferred to the LS2.
AFR 225 Heads
LS6 Intake
Oil Pan and oil pick up tube
Water Pump
Front engine accessory support (AC compressor, Alt, Power steering pump)
Flywheel/Pilot bearing
Dynatech Headers (LS1)
Engine mounts
Bell housing
Starter
I know the cam position sensor wires need to be extended and the knock sensors are located to the out side of the engine. There are after market wire harness’s to cleanly connect these components. But will the knock sensors interfere with the Dynatech headers IE burn wires rub pipes etc.
Any other advice that can make this transplant as seamless as possible would be greatly appreciated (Photo’s???)
Thanks,
Kevin

knock sensor will not get in the way of the headers depending where you put them. (there is a hole in the block near the rear of the block) i also wrap my sensors with the heat wrap.
you will need the lifter trays for the ls2
one side of the block will need to be shaved to fit the motor mount
you need to put washers on the windage tray because to crackshaft bolt will
not clear (this is for the 402)
headbolts will need to be changed
you need to get the cam sensor wire (racetronices)
timing chain and cover, valley cover, will be needed unless you buy from sdpc (they will give this to you )
everything else will bolt right up
thats about it. you might want to change your oil sensor while you engine is out. mine went out a week after the install and it took about 2 the change it. it only 40 bucks.
good luck
