Default Iron or Aluminum

Pretty much what the title says. Seriously thinking about a 408 but was curious on which block to go with and what the advantages are besides weight. And how much of a weight difference is there? This will be going in a 02 WS6 if that makes a difference even though it shouldn't. Thanks

iron will be stronger for sure but more weight. what are you going to use the car for? iron will be cheaper prob also. all are good things to consider. weight diff will prob be 50-80lbs maybe not for sure though.

I was told buy a builder that the iron weights almost 100lbs more. Depends on your goals. I personally will be going with the iron.

Yup. An Iron block weighs 93 lbs more than an aluminum block (180 for the iron block and 87 lbs for the ls1 block).

If I wanted to go with forced induction or spray, then iron.

Otherwise, I'd do aluminum.
