Default Katech LS7 Enhancment pistons announcement!!

We have been doing testing and it looks like 100 hp increases will be fairly
easy with a camshaft, headers and induction.

We will be announcing camshaft selections soon.

We have LS7 forged pistons for higher horsepower engines as well as dished
pistons for superchargers.

We are also currently machining 12.0:1 compression ratio pistons. Weighing
50 grams less than stock it reduces the stresses on the reciprocating
assembly and increases compression for more power. These are for race gas,
off-road applications. These are hard anodized over the whole piston - ring
grooves and pin bore for better durability. We can also put optional skirt
coatings on if needed. They have more valve pocket relief for bigger cams
as well.

I need pistons that will take me to 9:1 (roughly -27cc assuming 0 deck) for a street TT app that will need to reliably sustain roughly 850-900 crank horsepower. Piston skirt coating... I would assume so... you tell me. Factory crank, rods, and untouched heads utilizing factory thickness head gaskets.

Oh, and I need them yesterday Your lead time better than JE?

PM me please with pricing and ETA.

Thanks,
Bill

Very nice work guys.. We're hoping for that additonal 100hp ourselves with our LS7. We're staying N/A, do you think we'd be ok with the stock pistons?

The first one. It may not meet federal emissions standards.

Branded "off road" maybe for legal reasons, but how many inspection stations are checking CR?

Impressive work guys. With products like this coming to market the LS7 performance level is going to be insane a year from now. Keep it up, I need somewhere to blow my next 25 yearly bonus checks.

whoa. you took a hyper-youcrackedem piston and made a forged replacement that weighs 50g's less?
impressive.

Weight loss could also be in the pins but a loss is definately a gain Needs a rebalance though.

I should add that the 12.0:1 and 11.4:1 pistons are intended for race gas all the time and therefore labeled "off road use only." It has nothing to do with prolonged driving. The durability of these pistons has already been tested.

The 12.0:1 compression pistons are available for order this Wednesday. The 11.4:1 compression pistons will be available for order the first week of January. As for the low compression pistons, the dish we will be using is unknown at this time. There are a couple other pistons ahead of this one on the design table. Expected time for the low compression pistons is in February.

As for pricing, it's not exact yet, but expect around $1000/set.

GM has done an excellent job pushing the envelope of cast pistons. However, if you're seeking 100 additional horsepower with these piston speeds we are going to recommend forged pistons.

A question was asked on another forum that I thought I should include here also.

What is the benefit to the relief between the compression ring lands?
That is a gas accumulator groove. It allows for greater volume below the top ring to reduce blow-by pressure under the ring. This helps reduce ring flutter and blowby. You may also note an oil relief below the second ring. This allows room for oil scraping by the napier 2nd ring.

Personally- as long as you aren't detonating I think you'll be JUST FINE.

hyper-U pistons are actually much better than forged pistons in MANY aspects. They just cant take detonation that well. Better than what most people think- but not well.

I've personally detonated the **** out of a 12psi mustang GT (stock engine). It didn't seem to mind much.
