Default LS2 starting problem

We put a new LS2 in the 99 Camaro. Got most of the install problems resolved. Still have something going on with the electrical. The motor turns over real slow and sluggish. Found a bad battery, replaced it. Replaced the starter with a high torque starter. We did relocate the battery to the back of the car during the install. The next crankup, the car turned over a little better but still not like normal. We ran the car long enough to get warmed up, etc. All fluid levels checked, etc. We then went to crank the car again but all it did was turn over real sluggish. Not sure if we have something going to ground or what....Any suggestions from anyone ????

Recheck your ground especially if you relocated the battery.

It sounds like the wire you used is too small or the connections are not good. get a volt meter and check the voltage under load(when it is being cranked). The longer the wire, the great the resistance will be.

Hi Folks
If I was running a wire for the battery, I would use 00 AWG or 0 AWG. Here is the reason why;
00= 400AMPs
0= 330 AMPS
1= 262 AMPS
2= 208 AMPS
3= 165 AMPS
Starters pull a large amount of AMPS when starting - think of it a water pipe, the large the pipe the more flow, smaller less flow. Same thing with wires.
Bill
PS: the smaller the number the large the wire

I think we've got it !! I moved the battery back to the original spot under the hood and the car cranks like a new one. I think the main ground was not very good. I am going to run a single ground wire from the battery in the back to the front on the engine block. That should take care of it. Thanks for all the post which helps a lot !!
