What are the differences in the LS1, LS2, and the LS6?
Thanks.
LS6 = an evolution of the LS1 better flowing heads (243 castings), bigger camshaft, better intake manifold, still 346CI.
LS2 = an evolution of the LS6with a 4" bore (6.0L (364CI?) VS 5.7L for the LS1), Two piece intake manifold that looks to be a step backward from the LS6 manifold. Same 243 casting LS6 heads.
Basically the internalls of all of these motors are the same architecture with slight upgrades over the years.
I have one more question, does the cam have the same distance from the crank up?
And can you put an LS6 intake on a LS2, what would the results be?
Thanks again.
The LS1,2, & 6 all use the same timing chain so I feel pretty safe to say that the cam is the same distance from the crank.
I think the fuel rail/ injectors are different on the LS2 VS the LS6. You can put an LS6 intake manifold on an LS2 but it takes some modification. I think the guys over at gear chatter did a swap like this and picked up between 5 & 10 HP.
