Default spring choices for LS7

To this point, I've been tentatively looking at using some K-Motion Valve Springs. These are a dual spring. Installed height on LS7 heads is 1.959 from what I've read.

OD 1.460"
Coil Bind 1.085"

Closed 165# @ 1.850
Open 470# @ 1.150

Obviously, I may need to use a Morel lifter.

Any reasons why I should/shouldn't go with this spring? Can anyone testify as to lifespan, compared to other springs? Summit sells these for $89.95 a set! It would be hard to shell out 3x-5x more for a 921, or maybe even some of the new beehives from comp, like the 26095. Also, although beehives have many merits, if one breaks....I don't even want to think of that.

Opinions?

You will need to add a .100 of spring shim or change retainers or keepers or any of those combos to make the K motion springs work. They are .100 shorted the the stock Ls7 spec you have listed.

I'll probably install at 1.900ish, I was planning on using a shim.

Make sure if you shim the spring you locate it at the top buy the retainer and at the bottom on the heads.

What do you guys think of the comp 914? The heads are off, so I can machine the spring pockets...I think a 1.46" spring will fit w/o water jacket issues, hoping a 1.489" will too.

165# @ 1.800
385# @ 1.200
bind 1.110
rate 367

If I install at 1.900, I'm coming up with 128.3#,and .730 max lift, with .060 figured in for safety.

Can you guys double check my thinking? Seems like a good choice for a spring.
