Default LS7 Clutch - What kind of power ?

Did a quick search and didn't find anything except speculation ...

Is there any reliable info on how much power the LS7 clutch can realistically handle ? Would this clutch be competition for something along the lines of a Spec Stg 3 or a similar clutch ... or no?

True, but power on the dyno vs power lauching a car on sticky tires at the track are two different things.

Considering the size difference (from what i've seen) in the LS2 and LS7 clutches and overall surface area, it should hold quite a bit of power for a stock clutch. I'd expect at least 600+ at the flywheel.

.
Yeah, a clutch holding on a dyno is one thing .... but slap some sticky tires on her, and that's a whole different ball game.

It would be awesome to have a clutch with a stock feel, that supported 600+ hp though.

When HPE posted the vid, they said the clutch WAS NOT handling the power well.

Yeah. It's hard to imagine a stock clutch designed for handling under 500rwhp, holding 700rwhp without any problems. And even if it did handle it on the dyno a handful of times ... who knows what would happen after a few track runs ...

The clutch has no chatter whatsoever. The drivability is amazing, and Its holding 470rwhp for me.

wow, kind of sounds too good to be true.

anybody have any idea how long this clutch should last in the 500+rwhp power range?

a stock ls7 zo6 puts down 455 rwhp.so i think it would easily do 500 rwhp,at least i hope gm wouldnt cut it any closer then that.

well it has to hold normal driving for quite a longtime or GM would be replacing clutches on the z06 pretty often, so im sure if you drive normal with spirited bursts, 50k miles or so, just like our stockers.

I'm running the LS7 clutch with about 460-470 RWHP on my C5 w/ 3.90's. I've got about 4k fairly hard miles on it but no track time. So far it's working great. I did add the Cartek adjustable master because the engagement was a little too low for my taste.

So what parts are needed in order to enjoy an LS7 clutch on a 2001 F-body.
I don't think it's a direct bolton...
Anyone can tell me parts and part# that I need to make it work ?

EDIT: Never mind - I think I found it... Supposed to be a $500 price for all

LS7 clutch/pressure plate assembly 24236500
LS7/LS2 flywheel 12571611
Slave/Throwout bearing 15046288

Ive had mine for about 3500 miles. Great clutch! Feels just like the ls1/ls6 clutch. Seems to be holding up. Im putting down a little over 500whp and 470wtq

I've ran a couple of really hard passes on the car, and the clutch doesnt slip at all. Engagement is good, but I do notice the pedal releases a little higher now, which of course isnt a bad thing for me.

.
Why do you say it is bad for you that the pedal is releasing higher? Someone else was saying that brand new it releases too low, so maybe as it breaks in it comes up alittle??

I bought the LS7 clutch set up which will be installed next month.

Ill be at about 410 RWHP so about 470 at the flywheel. That more than enough clutch for me

since the LS7 is heavier than the ls1-ls2 setup how much power is lost?
