Default 2002 LS6 Cam in a 2006 LS2

You guys & gals are the experts here at LS1Tech.com. I'm selling my 01 Z28 and picking up a new C6 with the 6 speed auto. I plan to put some long tubes on it and a 160 stat (I live in hot old AZ). I don't want to go too wild on the cam and was not planning to do this until the warranty was up. However, it just dawned on me that I could get an easy 15 hp going from the 2001 LS6 cam that the car comes with to the 2002 LS6 cam. The LS2 already has the LS6 springs (to my understanding). So all I'd need to do is pull the steering rack, balancer, water pump, cam cover, valve covers, rocker arms, pushrods, spin the cam, put in the same 5/16" steel rods I used before to hold up the lifters, and swap cams. Man other than the steering rack, it's a piece of cake. I spent quite a bit of time swapping the springs (I finally got the knack of it after the first bank!) and I really struggled getting the oil pump o-ring to seat after doing the rollmaster double roller chain (took me three tries and only after diassembling the pump).

I figure I can run the 2002 LS6 cam without much tuning and it would be a good cam for an auto. Plus, it's really cheap, it's $215 from Scoggins Dickey (call it $260 with gaskets and balancer bolt) compared to around $800 for a cam and kit if I go with an aftermarket cam.

What do you guys think? Remember, this is a daily driver and I want to keep it under warranty. Plus, it's a pretty cheap 15 hp. Also, do I need to change out pushrods? The 2002 cam has a .012" smaller base circle than the 2001 cam.

Normally I'm a fan of the LS6 cam, but the LS2 already has the 01 LS6 cam which is only slightly smaller than the 02 version and you will only pick up maybe 10 rwhp between the two. Certainly not worth it in your case. Also, I assume the valve springs on the LS2 are the 01 version which are designed for .525 lift but I'm not sure of that.

You're picking up 7 degrees of exhaust duration @ .050 and .031 net lift. If thats worth it to you then go for it.

So what cam can I run and keep the stock springs? And I thought the springs were the 2002 LS6 springs, but I am not positive. It's going to be my daily driver and I don't want to swap out springs every 30,000 miles.
