Default Pushrod Problem

I am currently looking at the drivers side rockers and they all have enough wiggle room to were they will tick except for one that appears to be holding the valve open. That one has no play at all. Is this normal or should there be no play in any of them. When I say "play" I mean that they can be rocked side to side but the rockers are firmly against the pushrods on one side and firmly against the valve stem on the other side. These are stock rockers on the rail.

I am having a low power problem and think that the blame can be put on the valvetrain. It is a brand new setup but it is not producing the power that it should be. I didn't check the pushrod length and instead just bought the ones that the company recommended that I use with this crate motor and their cam and heads package. I haven't had a chance to do a leak down test yet and it may be that the cam is not ground properly but I am trying to eliminate everything that could be my fault before I rip this thing back apart. HELP PLEASE!!!

You need to check preload, you should have at least one turn after 0 lash. Do a search, there was a recent thread that explained it in depth.

There is no preload on LS2s. They just torque to 22 ft/lbs. I always torque them with no load, just like you would do an old motor rolling the cam till the lifters are not on a lobe. On my stock motor the rockers would wiggle very slightly side to side as you describe. If it's just one that seems to be keeping the valve open that's a little bizarre. Pull that one ond see if maybe a different size was put in your box of rods. I had that happen to me with some rockers... one rougue 1.8

As you are torquing to 22 ft lbs you are actually preloading the lifter anywhere from say.040 to .100. Tony Mamo I think likes the .100. If you weren't preloading the lifter your 22 ft lbs of torque would be right at 0 lash. This is why as you start to torque the rocker down you will feel resistance and the resistance is normally 1-2 turns, depending on pushrod length and rocker shims.
