Then what do we use? I looked at all the lifters and saw more failures with the aftermarkets then with the stockers. Again, there are a lot of variables but I really wasn't comfortable with any of the lifters. I am in the process of putting a 402 in the Vette because of a lifter failure so I'm a little jumpy. In the end I think I just had a bum part which was exasperated by the higher spring rate of my aftermarket heads. I got another set of stock lifters.

I hate to tell you this but most of all lifters are all the same identical lifter.

stock,Comp,Crane,Clevite,Melling,Autozone,Billy Bobs lifter supply..all the same

There are only two or three companies that make the lifters for EVERYBODY.

Hey Streetnstrip, Unaffiliated Racing is really a good guy and has forgotten more than a lot of us will ever know. He helped me through the purchase of a few cams. Unfortunately, the way I hear it, Comp gave him a fuc?ing.

so ls7 lifters are the same size as ls1 lifters (and as some say they are the same)....so nothing to change in pushrod length when using them in an ls1 engine? (just want to be sure)

I can't believe you brought up a thread this old.
Look here for LS7 lifters.

well what the hell, earlier in this thread, people were saying the LS7 lifter is the same as the stock LS1 lifter. or any other lifter in a GM hydraulic roller engine for that matter. (SBC) so why are we replacing our stock LS1 lifters with LS7 lifters if they are the same ******* thing??? and if they are infact the same lifter, why are the preload specs different?
