LS2 + C5 = grind block for motor mount clearance?

Default LS2 + C5 = grind block for motor mount clearance?

On the passenger side, one of the bosses on the LS2 block (doesn't exist on LS1 block) is hitting the motor mount. I mean the metal 45deg bracket, not the cylindrical pad that it sits on. Do I need to grind the block, or can I switch to a newer model motor mount instead? My car is a 99 C5. On the corvette forum, a guy with a 2000 C5 needed to grind, another guy with an '02 C5 says he didn't. So if I had an 02+ C5 motor mount, would it clear? Or can I use a C6 motor mount, or an aftermarket motor mount?

It didn't occur to me to check for clearance there, so now the engine is in the car and bolted to the torque tube, and the motor mount won't fit. Would have been a lot easier to do it with the engine on the hoist, plus much easier to keep everything clean.

Nevermind, I just ground it down with my angle grinder. It cut through the aluminum pretty quick.

That seems odd you had to grind to make the block fit. It must be specific to the C5, because my LS2 402 fit in my F-body with no problem. Can you post a pic where you had to grind?
