I don't think LS1 springs will work on LS7 heads. I also have the same other questions.

I use the 921 kit from comp and they work just fine.

I did search
Stock:
seat pressure: 85-94
rate: 285-312

We spent some time on our Optron Valvetrain dynamics test sell to find the best spring for optimum valve control. We now sell the spring and titanium retainers to go along with it. Springs are $16/ea and so are the retainers.

Coil bind: 1.095
Install height: 1.850
Seat pressure: 113
Spring rate: 360
Spring mass: 68g
Retainer mass: 5.5g

For comparison, the Comp 921 springs weigh 91 grams.

We found our spring to have far less bounce and loft than the 921 spring. Don't get me wrong, the 921 spring is still a good spring, but we spent the time to test a number of springs and found this one to be the best and that is why we chose it for our LS7 crate engines.

Ok, I put together the plots from the Optron test. As you can see the choice is clear. If you have any questions let me know.

enjoy

what lift cam was this test done with?? I can see that the psi is more stable, but doesn't the cam profile/lift have a direct effect on this?

Yes, you are correct, but I can't disclose cam specs yet. Although, since the PSI spring/Katech retainer are quite a bit lighter, you can expect similar control across the board.
