Default Calling PatrickG /PredatorZ - Experts??? - Please help with cam selection

I'm currently running a Cheatr cam and loving it, but I just added headers. As a result, I want a larger cam that more closely matches my setup. The Cheatr cam is great for roll-ons because it holds the power/torque so well towards redline. I'll be doing most of my fun from 4500-6500 rpms from a roll and want something that maximizes that range. I assume that means a higher 114 or higher LSA to bump that power further up the band. When I add the cam I plan on adding the pulley, Ported Fast and S3 TB as well... I drive my car every day and don't want the car to have stalling issues or major surging.. (that's what I love about the Cheater cam). I also have to park on the 3rd floor of a parking garage, so I don't want to have to worry about stalling either. What’s' the best cam for me?

To keep the stalling and surging down, you'll want to keep your overlap at a reasonable level. For best power in the 4500-6500 rpm range, you'll want your intake valve closing point to be around 45-46 degrees ABDC at .050". Since you now have headers, you don't need as early of an exhaust valve opening. To maximize the area under the curve, you'll want quite a bit narrower LSA than the CheaTR to keep your DCR close to 8.50:1.

228/232 .639/.595 111LSA 111ICL (+0)

This is just a hair bigger than my car with LSK lobe on intake and XE-R on exhaust. It has 8 degrees of overlap at .050" which means it will still be OK with a good tune. If that much overlap concerns you, I'd recommend going smaller in duration and keeping the LSA narrow.

224/228 .636/.588 111LSA 112ICL (-1)

This has 4 degrees of overlap at .050".

A quick question about the cams you recommended Patrick - on the exhaust lobe you specified a XER lobe instead of a LSK lobe. Is that just because the exhaust side doesn’t need/benefit from the extra lift?
