Default What size injectors to use?

Should I stick with stock 28# or move up to 42# to use in a N/A LS2 408 with a pretty big cam and Dart 225's? I want to use the right size injectors but won't be able to do any tuning for a while to really determine if the 28's flow enough. Those with experience with this motor should be able to tell me without any testing.

28s will not make it.
My best guess is 40-50#@ our pressure, to be safe.
I have SVO 36 and 42s to try.

I vote 42# if you are shopping now.

TSP just quoted me 36's for a 402 if I don't plan on any adders.

36#ers will get your buy. 42#'s are a little more common though... i'd get the 42's for a little extra growing room.

I'm running SVO 30's right now (waiting for a set of 42's to come in). I'm hitting about 95% duty cycle at 6000rpm though.

My friend is running Lucas 42# injectors on his LS2 402. Duty cycle is in the 80s if I recall correctly.

car runs excellent. 500+ through exhaust. My tune is being leaned on a hair though... AFR is steady at 13:1. I'd bet yours is a bit fatter. (FWIW. Just with changing one column of cells in the VE table, I can take the Duty Cycle from ~80% (15:1 AFR) up to over 110%. (11.5:1)) There's several other little things that can be done to play with it as well.

If it weren't for the plan to possibly throw a little dry kit on my car on top of the wet kit, i'd leave the 30's in there. While the duty cycle may be exceeding "optimal" range... we've ran 30# SVO's to 560+ rwhp 427's without fail and rock steady AFR. 2 years ago, very few people ran more than 30-36# injectors on N/A setups.

I am building a 402 stroker, I am going to install my ls6 intake from my 2001 camaro ss that came from the factory. Will the Lucas 42 injectors work with that intake with little to no modifications? Going to install the fast intake at a later time.

We have been talking about the SVO 42s which are ~50#.. The Lucas 42s might be a bit light.

SVO injectors = Bosch injectors

Both Bosch and Lucas injectors are rated 42# @ 43.5psi. Which puts them at ~48.5# injectors at LS1 58psi fuel pressure.

Therefore both injectors will support similar horsepower levels. And the Lucas injectors are top notch injectors just like the bosch are. They will also work with your intake just fine.

I like your spreadsheet, but I'm a little confused on the InjRate lb/hr and InjNeeded lb/hr columns. is the needed supposed to be what my the injectors are at 58psi? or the rated 43.5psi?

it shows you how much fuel you need. how you get there (number of injectors, injector size, fuel pressure) is a different calculation, and usually falls into a simple choice, as there aren't that many injectors that we get to choose from.

Ouch. That's cutting it close. I run the Delphi Lucas 42 # injectors for my 402.

ok, it says I need a 50lb/hr, which makes sense. I see what you mean now

My friend has a 408 with a TRex, Fast 90/90, and AFR heads. With 30# SVO's he's got a duty cycle of 85% and a 12.8 AFR. The way I understand the SVO's are great as long as no power adders are used.

Dr Chill

I am running 42# and my cam is not as big as yours! So 42 is the least i would go with your set up!

This is an old thread. I already purchased 42# injectors.
