Default Can an L92 block be honed?

ok i originally posted wanting to see if LS7 heads could be used on an L92 block. according to gmpartsdirect.com you need a minimum bore of 4.065 for the LS7 heads to fit. so can the L92 block be honed .005 like an ls1 block can? and if so would it be safe?

L-92 is a 4.065" bore...well 4.0649" or something like that. And I would assume that being able to take the LS2 .020" over, you could expect close to the same from the L-92 block and plenty of people will probably push a 4.08" bore on that block.

Even if it does fit with the 4.065 bore you're probably still going to run in to valve shrouding problems, due to the recomended bore for LS7 heads being 4.125.

so its probably not worthwhile to run the LS7 heads on an L92 block then? how much would it hurt power to have the valves shrouded?

No, The best heads for the money would probably be the L92 heads. I'm not sure exactly how much flow would be affected. With a larger than stock bore the L92 heads would flow even better than their advertised flow numbers and cost less than the LS7 heads considerably.

problem is still the intake. if im going with an engine setup like this its for the budget first and foremost which means im not going to shell out 1500 for an intake manifold. and the only other intake that fits is the stock one which no one has seen yet nor has it been made available here. i was thinkin with the ls7 heads you atleast would have the ls7 intake to use.

maybe by the time im ready to build the engine something more budget minded will be available.

I wonder if an unsleeved L92 block is equal in strength to a LS2 block? I'm trying to decided which to base my turbo build off of.
