KJ was great as well as brian.

BTW I don't know what heads you're using, but the early Darts had some oil drainback issues, maybe this helps GOOD LUCK!

I'd like to know how a 402 is diffrent than any other 4" stroke motor? 383, 408, etc... If it is a 402 issue, then that would send the problem towards the block itself, and not the fact that it is a 402. The only smoking issues I've really noticed have all come from SLP 402 owners. Since one of his main smoking points is on decel only, it leads me to believe it is something other than the motor.

Can you elaborate on this?

I just tq'ed my rockers to 18 ft/lbs and forgotta about it... You have to seal them?

I have ETP 225 heads if that makes a difference...

Do a formal leakdown test. It'll give you the most likely cause(s).

Lots of info here - - I won't touch the oil brand as it is a pet research project of mine but you stated that you were running a breather. If you are running a breather then you should NOT be running the PCV.

We pull and port many manifolds and are astonished at the oil in the galley from the PCV - - I used to use about a qt every 1500 and now use NONE at all.

Try plugging up the pcv first and where is your breather - - should be on the oil fill for proper size to evacuate pressure.

Good luck!!

I run a LS6 valley cover with LS6 PVC and a breather in the oil fill with custom valve covers and have no oil consumption problems...

I've got about 600 miles on my ls2 402 now. It's not smoking at all and I can't detect any oil usage. I'm using Rotella and added the can of GM anti-scuff stuff that SDPC provided. I'm changing th oil this weekend. I'm either going to use Rotella again or Valvoline Racing (not for street) oil. It also has ZDDP in it. SDPC recommended not running Synthetic for the first 10K miles.

I tee'd the valve cover vents together and run that to the air bridge. I'm running a breather off the valley pan. I still haven't determined the final configuration for venting. It will involve a catch can or two.
