Default Plate for 500 plus cubes

I forgot the name of the company but someone showed me an article in car craft where they make this plate that goes on top of the block to lengthen the bore and give it more cubes.Does anyone here know what else is involved with doing this?

ERL is the company name. They will offer the tall decks as complete shortblocks and they also produce a heavy duty standard deck height sleeved block as well. SAM (School of Automotive Machinists) is one of several primary testers. Do a couple searches and you'll see the kind of power they are producing. Rumor has it that there's another test due soon.

Well, longer sleeves, Bigger crank, longer rods, revised oiling ( a 4.5" crank is going to put the rods in to the oil gallery. The company that is doing it is named ERL. I think they had long blocks in the $25k with good parts (carrillo rods, high dollar steel crank). It's expensive, and to be honest I don't see the benefit of doing this over going to an Aluminum BBC. At 500 cubic inches you are are going to need some serious airflow to realize the full potential of the combination and you are severely limited by the bore diameter. Why reinvent the wheel when you can have a proven assembly with tons of aftermarket support for about 1/2?

i agree! you need to push the bondires make make progress. but you have to remember that not everything works.

as you said Wnts2Go10O it will be nice to see how these things hold up! i know the Honda guys love them and run BIG power through them. but the LS is a diffrent type of motor so i guess we will have to see!

thanks Chris.
