LSX cam swap
LSX cam swap I am on the fence for putting a cam in our LS7 project. We need to swap the springs and retainers while the engine is assembled. Having never done this on an LSX engine I understand the cam is an easy swap. Anyone have any advice or tip on the springs and retainers while this is assembled but on the engine stand?

I thought the stock ls7 had titanium retainers and great springs to start with to handle the 7000 rpm redline. I'm a ford guy so someone will chime in that knows how a higher lift cam will effect the springs.

Funny I drive a blown Ford as well every day! The higher lift will reduce the space between the coils in the springs. There needs to be .060" during assembly to prevent coil bind at rpm which will quickly destroy the valvetrain, head and possibly the engine. The new retainers change the installed height of the spring an allow more room for larger lifts. Short story anyway.
