Which engine?
Thanks A Lot,

Hmmm Carborated or Fuel Injected....Crate motor or built to spec?
GM has a carb'd LS2 364/440hp crate motor that would be an intersting choice if your Fbody was carb'd to begin with.... I wonder if you'ld be able to use a set of 4th gen LT's with that motor in a 3rd gen Fbody (the underside is similar in design but you'ld probably have to get a custom Y pipe made/fab'd).
Yeah I kinda of wish I still had my old 85 T/A that thing had a curb weight of 2856 with a iron block 350 (got to see the weight when it was ship'd from Hawaii to St Louis). Man a aluminum block LS2 under the hood of that thing would have been down right fun.
Just remember which ever you decide to go with in your project that you beef up that frame (especially if it has T-Tops).
Gen III LS1 - Baseline for all Gen3 motors uses a 15 degree on the valve angle
Gen III LS6 - improved head design, improved manifold design, and a larger cam from the LS1 (there were 2 versions of the LS6 cam).
Gen III.V LS2 "Bastard Child of GenIII and Gen IV" LS6 heads, cheaper built manifold -vs- the LS6, and LS6 first cam (the smaller one), added drive by wire Throttle Body.
Gen III.V LS7 - Designed from the C5R engine design, off set intake valve, 12 degree valve angle, lots of power, lots of potental... bloody well expensive!
Gen IV LS4 - LS6 heads, Dual Pattern cam for DOD, LS2 style manifold... note this motor comes in front wheel drive Impala SS's and a couple of other cars. It is rated for 303hp at 5.3L which isn't to shabby for a 5.3L
Gen IV LQ4 (or is that LQ6) same as LS4 with the truck manifold (yep DOD).
Gen IV L76 Ausie - Same Block as the LS2 (and is actually using the DOD feeds), L92's head (based off of the LS7 head), completely different cam (DOD Dual Lobe design + larger duration on the exhaust side -vs- the LS4 cam), low profile intake manifold that is an improvement over the LS6 manifold that mounts up to the L92 heads.
Gen IV L76 VortecMax - Top of the line engine for the Chevy truckline in 07. Same L76 longblock as the Ausie L76 with a truck manifold.
Gen IV L92 - L76 VortecMax with .2 Liters more from larger pistons and GM's new Variable Valve Timing (Cam Phaser).
Yes the Ausie's got the new motor first to meet there emission regulations (they replaced the LS2 in the Monaro's with the L76 back in Feb of 06). The Monaro V8 is what the GTO is with a new nose... and yes Goat owners like there Ausie made cars

I can't figure out why the Escilade and Yukon Denali are the only vehicles getting the L92.
Why is the top of the line Chevy Tahoe only offered with a 5.3L -vs- the Vortec Max 6.0L???
Shoot I'm still trying to figure out if the Yukon's L92 has VVT or is that just offered on the Caddy?
Ooops I need to stop ranting and thread derailing...
