Default Ported LS6 vs. L92 oil pump

I wanted to bring this up to see if there was in difference between the 2, because I've read others claim that the L92 is a high flow/volume pump and is better than a ported LS6. Is this true? What makes it better if indeed better? I currently have a ported LS6 pump, but not sure if I should reuse it on my new motor or opt to the L92.

I know on my build W2W replaced my L92 pump with a ported pump as they know exactly what to expect with the ported ones. The L92 one is high volume as it needed to run the DOD stuff but too much isn't good. Once we took all that out they didn't want to guess how it would act so they put in what they know works.

So you're saying that they replaced the L92 pump with a ported LS6?

I think this brings up a good point. People tend to believe they always need more pressure and more volume which usually isnot necessary. It takes more horsepower and can cause oiling problems by pumbing too much oil to the top of the motor emptying the sump unecessarily. Sounds like good advice from w2w.

However it seems like they used the ported LS6 pump because "they know it works" rather than them avoiding the L92 pump because it didn't work.

I'm curious if anyone knows of any reasons to avoid the L92 pump. GM has good reason to make a quality pump to protect their newer, more complicated motors. I was planning on running the L92 pump in my LSX build next Spring unless I start seeing compelling reasons not to.

BTW: Don't take this post as experience with the L92 pumps... I don't have any. I was just under the impression that the L92 oil pump would be an equally high quality piece after seeing the rest of my L92 parts arrive recently.
