Vector Motorsports seems to be on the cutting edge of tbss tuning. I'd recommend giving them a call. 586-790-2970

I don't recomend playing very hard with the TBSS since the 4l70E is already at its design limit stock. If you do happen to modify the TBSS engine etc it would be highly suggestable to Not turn down or turn off the TQ management. The sun shell carrier tends to explode with hard shifting.

Here is a thread on another board. Not an isolated incident and it was tunned.

The trans is not as weak as you think. There are quite a few running around with superchargers with no trans failures. Mine being one of them.

The only trans failures I have seen have been on the trucks with spray. Only the early trucks at that. There was a heat treat problem in the early 06 trucks that was causing failures, that has been taken care of.

Sean is right though, it is best for piece of mind to keep some upshift TM in. We remove about half on the upshift, but remove it on the launch. I have never seen one of these fail out of the hole (even AWD with a 150 shot) and have tuned over 130 TBSS's.

A cam in the 222-224 duration is good in these trucks with the stock converter.

Good luck!

The cam install is the same as all LSx engines. Depending on cam size you might want to look into springs as well.

Vector Motorsports does excellent mail order tunes, if you can not make it down there. You friend might want to look into other mods like air intake, Kooks or SW headers, underdrive pulley, 160 T-stat, and just replace the muffler. These are good supporting mods.

Also if a converter is installed do not drive it around without least a trans cooler. I have done both the cooler and the pan. I prefer preventitive maintenance.
