Default why 427 why not 454? LS2

Well just curious why so many of you guys go with the 427 over say a 454.

Why not go with more cubes and a little over square motor as a posed to a under square long stroke 427.

Not bashing the 427 just wont to know.

Default 454 cubic inches

LS2 with Darton LS7 dry liners or new MID liners: 4.185" bore, 4.125" stroke.

I've done several of the dry sleeved "454 blocks". 4.185" is the limit on the dry liners. I recommend this bore on NA motors only. The MID is stronger and will go out to 4.200" with nitrous.

Typically most people stick with a 4'' stroke and most like to leave room as far a bore goes for rebuilds, instead of taking it to the edge. You will see more big cube motors coming soon. We have done a few big cube motors. 427, 436 etc... We are working on a new project that most you may enjoy very much if you are a fan of big big cube stuff.

With 427 you can use shelf stock pistons, when going to custom parts people loose track of their budget. Custom pistons results in furthur expenses in balancing, as you can purchase a "balanced" 427 rotating assembly for short block vs. custom pistons you may end us using more mallory then normal.

Music to our ears as the mega big cubed LS series of motors will be prolific with the Awesome new GM Perf. LSX Block coming out in a couple of months and the aftermarket WARHAWK Block and of course the GM LS7 Block!!
