mystery block?

the number 12568952 is stamped on the back of the block, right underneath the passenger side cyl. head. i beleive it is an ls2 but i'm not to sure, i know it is stamped "GM" and "6.0L" on the back of the block, and it is aluminum. i was just wondering if anyone out there can confirm it, or if you'll know of a site where i can cross reference that number.

That is a GM LS2 aluminum 6.0 liter block.

Part # is 12568950 (2 #'s less than casting #)

Thanks for the help. what would i have to do so stuff that motor in a '98 Z28?

Buy a LS2 conversion kit from SDPC. You may also have to change the crank from your 98' into that block because of the reluctor wheel signal, or have the reluctor wheel changed out to the appropriate LS1 signal.
