will ls2 cam work in ls1?[cam sensor location}

can anyone tell me if the ls2 cam will work in an ls1?i think i read an article awhile back that said it was the same as the ls6.is this true.the cams not gonna cost much and im tearin down for a oil pump and intake upgrade,will the cam be worth installing?i used the search button and couldnt find much.any help apreciated.

It will work and yes it's an ls6 cam. You should get about 15-20hp.

Verify this, but: I don't believe an actual LS2 cam will work in a LS1 because there is no reluctor wheel on the rear of the cam for the LS1 cam sensor to pick up the signal. Look for a used 02-04 LS6 cam because it has slightly more lift and duration compared to the LS2 cam (which is actually the same spec as the 01 LS6 cam).
