this is with pistons .005 out of hole and .056 compressed GM LS7 head gaskets. Let me know what you are coming up with. Thanks.
You are WAY off. You can't use the duration at .050" to find out DCR. You need to know the duration at .006". Assuming a 50 degree ramp rate (common for aggressive hydraulic roller cams), you would have 307 intake and 316 exhaust duration at .006". Plug that into your calculator and see what I'm talking about.

Patrick,

I have some cams like that and in cars with around 11.25 that are very fast and never have any knock at all. Maybe they could use a little more compression though but one one like that going 135 in the quarter on pump gas and a hydraulic roller. It probably would be a lil better at 11.5 to one but I'd be afraid to go much higher than that.

Patrick, those 2nd set of numbers I gave you are at .006 and with various calculators used by myself and others we came up with those numbers of 8.4 and 11.5.1

No, those are the valve events at .050". Use J-Rod's calculator and you'll see. Those are without question the valve events at .050". No wonder your DCR is so far off. At 11.5:1 SCR, the DCR is in the 7s. Sorry.

The numbers will look more like this
Valve events------- 0.006 0.050
Intake Duration - ID 307 257
Exhaust Duration - ED 316 266
Lobe Center Angle - LSA 110 110
Intake Centerline - ICL 110 110
Intake Valve opens - IVO 43.5 18.5 BTDC
Intake Valve closes - IVC 83.5 58.5 ABDC
Exhaust Valve Opens - EVO 88 63 BBDC
Exhaust Valve Closes - EVC 48 23 ATDC
Exhaust Centerline - ECL 110 110
Overlap___________ 91.5 41.5

Patrick, thank you for bringing that to my attention. I have sent an e-mail over to Trevor to figure out what is going on. I also have come up with a dcr of around 7.75.1 and that is just not going to work. Thanks again, I will let you know tomorrow what I came up with.

Yes, Patrick was correct and saved my build. TSP is engine dynoing a 418 tomorrow with various cams including one with the same specs as mine. I am going to wait to see what kind of cam these heads like. I know it is not a 427 but it will give us a good idea of where we want to be. Trevor is thinking this think will like something larger with a LSA of around 109/108 I will let you all know tomorrow after I find out what each cam did.
