Default ordered a cam for my LS2

Well, i finally broke down and ordered a cam setup from thunder racing. I got their 224/227 .563/.569 114 LSA cam, with PRC springs, hardened pushrods, retainers, etc, etc, along with an ASP underdrive crank pulley and overdrive alternator pulley.

i already have a volant intake, TNT 150 shot, solid DS, performabuilt trans w/ 3500 stall and stock 3.46 rear end gears, along with kooks 1 7/8th primary 3 in collector headers, and magnaflow catback

my question is, will that cam work good with my setup? its their nitrous/turbo cam, so it will work with my nitrous, but how good? should i see a hp increase across the board, or just a bigger jump up top?

also, i was thinking about getting it with a 112LSA, but how would that affect the cam and also the power? i kinda want that lopey sound/idle, but was told it would be easier to pass emissions with the 114LSA. out here in AZ it seems that you can pass a smog check pretty easy. since the car is OBD2, all they do is hook up a scan gauge and see if theres any codes. if there isnt, you pass (my friend had a custom turbo on his mazda3 hatch a few years back and passed).

im just wanting to know cause the order hasnt shipped yet, and they are waiting on those cams to come in (either mon or tues), so if i wanna change it and upgrade to a different grind or a custom grind i better do it now. thanks

Ok why did you just buy a cam and then come ask if it will work or not? Other than I hate these threads.... I really have to wonder why you would buy something then go ask everyone on here reguardless of what they know their opinion of YOUR choice? Don't take this the wrong way (because that is done ALL DAY on internet forums) but are you just looking for someone to tell you that it was a good choice or do you want real opinions? On the internet opinions are like a$$holes everyone has one and most of them stink.

Bret

p.s. sorry I had to say it, the old lady is throwing a fit in the other room and this is my salvation at the moment.

I've got a 224/224 .610/.601 on 114 lsa in my '05. I run N/A and put down 414/387 with headers, cats, UD pulley, Volant as supporting mods. I still have the stock cat-back.

My friend used the same cam but on a 117 lsa on his TBSS with a 150 shot and I think on the spray he put down 498 to the tires.

Cam discussions are a pain in the *** though. Everyone has different oppinions and seems to disagree with what the other guy says. My advice is to call up your tuner, or a reputable cam guy and see what they think.

Oh, and I might add (now that I notice who posted up before me), if you want the best cam for the job....cancel your order and have Bret design one for you. He's the man.

well, the reason i ask now, is cause i dont know much about cams, and this one was reccomended to me by thunder racing. i really dont know jack about cams, so i thought i would ask for some input from some people that might. and its not that i wanted someone to say i ordered the right thing, its that im wondering how the powerband will be messed with. with this cam am i gonna see a hugh jump in power only above 5K rpms, or will it be a nice curve and maybe 15-20hp across the whole powerband.

the other thing is, i wouldnt mind more lift, but i dont know what would work with my setup. thunder also has this one 230/236 .592/.602 112 LSA but what would i gain/lose over the other cam? im asking for advise cause i dont know anything about cams.

also, i dynoed 487/460 on the bottle and 320/320 off.

overdrive alt pulley? thats funny, considering the computer regulates the voltage nowadays and can pretty much go full field at near idle. what a waste of money.

more lift is better on these. either way, you'll gain 30rwhp at minimum.

I ran this cam (230-236 112 +2) in my H/C 346 with PRC 2.5 5.3 heads and a 90/90. It was a geat setup.
