4L80E w/05 gto LS2 issues.
1. Is there a program that will allow the factory ECM to control a 4L80E?
I've been told that since the LS2 did not come with a 80E, there is no VIN to use for a program??????
2. I would have to add a TCM to the M6 harness. Which TCM would I need???
3. Is the GTO pedal the only pedal to work this ECM?
Thanks for all your help.

Scott,
Easy... Since you have the M6 and fly by wire I would buy a stand alone transmission controller or convert the tranny to full manual control. Transgo has a kit that will make the 4l80e manual shift by cable for HD/race applications.
Harder... If you wanted both to work together try to find a GMC 2005 Express van with the 6.0L/4l80e and use that PCM and harness. However that would be the end of your fly by wire and you would need to get a different throttle body as well as HP Tuners or the like for programming.
Good Luck
Frank
The 3/4 ton Silverados have 6.0L, drive by wire, and 80E's, so a stock PCM is plenty capable of doing what you're asking.
And this is the kind of thread that would probably get much better responses in the Conversions & Hybrids forum, since that's what you're talking about (and building).

Now, will the express van with the 6.0L and 4l80E ecm plug directly into the gto harness? (I will have to have my harness modified anyway. Just curious if it's the same ecm type.)
Does it matter which tcm I use? 60E or 80E?
Last thing. Most shops offer ecm programing for $200-350. Can I buy HPtuners and accomplish the same?
Thanks again for helping with the newbie questions.

I do know the F-body one can do it, because I've got one in my Bravada (and there are numerous F-bodies with an 80E). My program is for a basically stock 6.0L / 80E for a '03 Silverado 2500.
Yes, the 4L60E is a real POS.
There are a couple of wiring differences between a 4L60E and an 80E. Two wires which control the TCC are in different locations (different pins on the big grey connector on the trans). Two additional wires need to be moved to the Input Shaft Speed sensor (ISS) in order for that to work (although the trans will run ok without the ISS). So, basically, the total number of wires is correct, but 3 or 4 of them are used differently (and some need to change on both the trans end and the PCM end).
