Default jrp cam holding tool, anyone make their own

im doing a cam swap really soon but im not removing the heads, just swapping springs. this tool looks like it will hold the lifters for you easily and safely, anyone used it? to me it looks like i can hit up a hardware store and simply, buy a couple of pieces of metal rods. not being cheap but the tool looks a little over priced.
..to anyone that asks thunder racing sells them

Ive got both...THe JRP tool and some that I made myself. Ive had more trouble with the lifters with the one I made from 5/16 rod then i do with the JRP tool.

I dont mind renting the JRP tool out if you need it. Ive also got a Crane Valvespring compressor that does both at once.
