Default Lq4 drop out and bare LS2 block question

Has anybody bought an Lq4 complete drop out package then buy a bare LS2 block and swap over parts to the aluminum block? I was just wondering if this would be cost effective. I have seen low milage Lq4s go for $2500 and bare blocks for around $1000. I realize you would need some gaskets and what not. Heck you could even put in a new cam and better heads. Anyway it seems like it would be cheaper than buying the LS2 dropout for around $7000+. The reason I am saying LQ4 instead of LQ9 is I'm thinking about future FI fantasies. Your thoughts please.

Default LQ4 reciprocating assembly

The disadvantage here would be the LQ4 rods, which are not as stout as the LQ9 rods, especially for any of the power adders.

With that said, I'm using the LQ4 pistons/rods w/ARP bolts in my 10.8:1 N/A truck (ported 2.02/1.57 243 milled heads, LS6 (308) cam, 918s and headers. No problems so far, but it will also stay N/A and nitrous-free.

Buy an iron block (unless you're concerned about weight) and put your money in a good reciprocating assembly.

I am somewhat concerned with weight and of course cost. This is going into a BMW M3 so if I can I am trying to keep the weight down. If not well I will just stay with the iron block.
