Texas Speed-Great tech support
The motor was sent without the front oil plug so it had no oil pressure at startup & a very unusual hollow tap.I contacted Jason at Texas Speed. He was real cool & told me to take it out & call him back.
Long story short the windage tray was a bit to close to the rod bolts, hence the sound.I thought the worst when I called Texas Speed as anyone would.
I must say, they were very professional throughout the whole ordeal.
Jason hooked me up with new bearings at my request. The old ones were ok,
but I opted to start fresh again. As for the crank & cylinders they were
unscathed. The most damage was done to my pride.
I chalk it up to a learning experience & hell of a lot of luck.
mad props to Texas Speed for taking care of me.
I feel like the plug should have been in the motor to begin with(they include them now)but I should have caught it before the timing cover went on.
As far as I'm concerned it could have been a lot worse.
someones car.People can get very weird, myself included. They did a great job.I mean at the time no one knew if the motor was damaged & Jason still told me that he would help me out.Now if they could only cover my labor.Hah!This will be the 3rd weekend I
spent with the car & not my girlfriend. She's so understanding!
