MAF is built in like the LS7 has...

black box = is a airbox bellows like LS1 f-bodies have..
What do you mean built in?

Built in where? The Airbox or the TB?

And to the person who said something about LS7 volume for the intake, what do you mean by that? Do you mean that a larger volume in the intake manifold can help power?

That intake looks different than the L76 - good news for all you L92 fans, it's almost certainly tuned to a higher RPM than the L76.

Edit: Oops, just reread the part about an "acoustic shell" over the intake - that would make it look different in any case. Still, I would hope it's different/better ...

MAF appears to be built into the air bridge ahead of the accordion tube. I see a screw on the side, probably where the sensor is held in. Aftermarket air bridges will just have a hole on the side to stick the MAF sensor into.

Sounds like standard L92 heads on it going by valve sizes. Just with the uprated hollow stem stuff. Maybe with sodium filled.

Who is going to buy one and pull it apart with pics for us to drool over!?

From the text....new heads???

Breathing for the new 6.2L engine is accomplished via new, high-flow cylinder heads. They’re based on the large port/large valve design found on the LS7 engine and other GM L92 engines, with larger-capacity, straighter intake ports. The design optimizes intake flow to the combustion chamber and the exhaust ports are also designed for better flow.

Says it's new....

Ensuring the cylinder heads receive all the air they can handles falls to a new, acoustically tuned intake manifold. The composite design is manufactured with a “lost core” process that improves runner to runner variation and reduces airflow losses.

Man that's gonna be one helluva motor. I can only imagine what kind of #'s it'll put out with just a cam/valvetrain upgrade, headers/exhaust, and a tune!

Could be.. or "new" to the corvette. We shall see.
Could be an even better performance choice than the L92 heads.

Me wonders if we've got a brand new cylinder head on the LS3...
If this is a new/better casting than the L76/L92 casting , mods on the LS3 will prove awesome...:yesnod:

It's the air silencer. They changed the camshaft as well; from .521 lift to .551 lift. I'm sure it's the 02-04 LS6 camshaft.

So are the new MAF's a lot different than the whole 'encased' MAFs from the Fbodys and LS1s?

Exactly, the heads and intake are new to the Corvette in the GM press release doesn't mean they haven't been used already in the trucks and in Australia.

I think it's L92 heads with hollow valves and a L76 intake with a noise-reducing shell over it. Somebody will have to take off the shell to see if the intake is a L76 intake.

There are only two times to buy new technology, now or never. It's like say ing I might as well wait for a 2009 or 2010, thre is always going to be something new and better. Stick to your guns.
