Default LSx at the machine shop

I just dropped off all of the parts for my LSx build. Here is a run down of what we're going to do.

Switch over to 1/2" head studs for the standard locations
Switch over to 3/8" head studs for the two additional locations
Bore to 4.165
Machine receiver groove
Line Hone Mains using standard ARP fasteners
Setup main support system
Restrict lifter galleys to .060 using threaded insert
Diamond pistons to be machined to remove ~5cc
Balance rotating assembly
- Diamond pistons
- Howards Rods

We've got a custom torque plate being made and should be here 4-5 days setup for the new block.

Does the LSX block really need a girlde? I thought the main caps were supposed to be pretty tough. What kind of rpm?
Are you machining piston oil squirters too?
Your LSX block is going to be thoroughly stiff with a main girlde

I really don't know IF it needs a girdle but it surely can't hurt. I'd like to have the ability to spin it to 8500-9200 if I need to.

I saw that one, I'd rather have one that ties into the rail/oil pan.

Phill

Sounds like a nice peice. I wouldn't think a girdle would be needed. I would consider a Jesel belt drive, lifter bushings and a dry sump setup. I have spun my LS2 setup to 8500 with no issues.

What heads are you planning to use?

Good luck

Jesel setup some LS7 rockers for the ET heads with 3/8" ball adjusters instead of cup adjusters.

Sound's good I just worry if you get real crazy with the springs pressure will it hold up thats why I prefer the C5R setup.
