Question Stock LQ9 and H/C question.

A friend of mine wants the same set up as I have with Dart 205 heads, F14 cam, but with a iron block 6.0 liter engine. He is getting a great deal, but I am wondering what kind of power he might expect with that, versus a simular set up on a LS1.

Similar power per cubic inch with him having an advantage with more cubes and compression (11.38:1 with GM MLS gasket). A good gestimate based on hp/in^3 would be he'd have around a 20 - 25ish hp advantage over your LS1 motor.

I think I'd suggest the 225cc heads for that 6.0L motor especially considering it will make good compression too. A FAST intake would compliment that well.

So.. common sense tells me he'll have more tq than hp over me... 20-25 hp more than me, but.. what.. 30-35 ft lbs of torque over mine? and if nitrous likes high compression.. in theory wouldn't he benefit more on spray than I would?

I doubt it will make that much more tq.
Maybe a bit more power, but its also a 100 lbs heavier.

Actually that is what I've been hearing as well.

So it sounds as if there really isn't much of a gain going from a LS1 to a iron block 6 liter if you take the weight of the iron block into consideration... or am I wrong?
