Default C5 427 Installation Complete

I've had my car back for a couple of weeks now. I have about 175 miles on it now. I don't have any dyno numbers yet. I want to get some miles on the engine and new clutch first.

I originally had a Vortech S-Trim @ 6.5psi and headers on the car. The 427 has way more torque than the blower setup did.

I am running the AutoTune tune that I was using with my heads/cam 346. All I did was raise the idle to 950, make a tweak for the 90mm TB, change the dispacement, and a couple of other little things. The car starts right up and idles nicely. I have driven in traffic quite a bit with no issues. I get a slight idle dip sometimes when I disengage the clutch and a slight surging at light throttle. I think that a couple of AutoTune sessions with EFILive will take care of those issues.

Here is a pic of the finished product:

Yes, the alternator is polished. A local shop did that for me a while ago.

That's correct! The valve covers and the brackets are from Katech.

First off I like small cams. I only had a 220/224 in my 346 and loved it. I was hesitant to use the 230/242 even in the larger 427. Brian @ SDPC had that one recommended by Comp for my goals. I specified a horsepower peak at about 6000rpm, an idle that would not exceed 950, and excellent drivability. I went with the recommendation and I am very happy with it.

The car is completly drivable. I spent quite a few of my first few miles in traffic and there are just no issues at all with that size cam in the 427. It idles with some lope and you can feel some lope/cam shake in the car. It will accelerate from 1000 rpm in top gear up a hill with no bucking or surging. I figure that by the time I am done tuning it will drive like stock.

This forum won't let me attach a WMV file. I have a post on CF that I did attach an idle video to so you can hear what it sounds like. You can find that here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1716433

The engine will loosen up after about 1500 miles and idle and run even better.

They are custom made wires by Scott Performance Wire http://www.scottperformance.com/home.htm

The shop that installed my 427 (RMCR in Colorado Springs) had them made for me. They had used Scott products before and recommended them.

I am running a little bit behind due to rainy weather and then my dad ended up in the hospital for a week. I am going to try to finish up the VE tuning next week and schedule some dyno time on 7/2 or 7/6.

Sounds like a nice cam setup. Extemely streetable. You are running ported L-92's with unported L-76 intake? Do you feel that going with the ported L-92/L-76 there is a performance advantage over say a stock 427 CNC head and intake?

I don't know that the ported L92/L67 combo is any performance advantage. I did it because it was a cost effective alternative.
