Default Broken Comp 918 Batch # Thread

Post up here only if you've broken a Comp 918 under "suspicious" circumstances recently (ie: it's not obvious that YOU broke it somehow ) AND if you have the batch number from the springs....

I'm trying to make a compile a little list in hopes of seeing exactly where things may have gone wrong here...ONCE AGAIN EACH OF THESE NUMBERS WAS POSTED BY SOMEONE WHO HAD AT LEAST ONE SPRING FROM THAT BATCH FAIL...

(some people are posting that their batch starts with a "0". Mine doesn't, but i'm not sure whether it matters or not, so i'm using "0" wherever it was given to me.)

1) 49253
2) 049045
3) 49826 (3 separate incidents confirmed)
4) 050808
5) 051791

Ok guys, I just got off the phone with CompCams and they want to be involved...here's what they/we need from the members here:

If you have any of these broken springs, CompCams wants and needs to talk directly to you! They also of course will want these springs back so they can test them and look into this.

it is VERY difficult (if not impossible) for them to remedy any problems there might be with a spring by reading about it on the internet! So please, call CompCams at 800.999.0853 (that's their toll free tech line), and tell them you've got broken spring(s) and want to know what to do with them! Their customer service is second to none and they want to speak to you! Again, the only way they can fix a problem that might exist is to deal directly with the customer with the springs!!!

Thanks!

Red in warranty claims is the man to talk to! Leave him a message if he doesn't answer and he will return your call! he knows the situation and is ready for your calls!

What are we getting the word out about? To call Red if you have a broken spring? Just curious.

You need to re-read the thread. Comp has not posted at all, nor have they admitted to having a new bad batch. They had admitted there was a problem over a year ago, and I posted the contact info for those with any broken springs so that we can clarify this whole thing. Thanks.

That Comp is actually doing something about this. It's no longer an urban myth sort of thing, and it's great to see the manufacturer step up to the plate. There are a handful of locals who have broken their springs, so I let them know.

Wait, so they aren't "admiting" there is a problem, yet tens of people have had premature spring failure right after they switched to a new spring supplier?

Thumbs down

Yep they are just blowing this off. I had my engine go from a faulty 918 spring and when I called the service dept they gave me a rec # and said they would send me a new set. So I said "let me get this stright you wat to send me a set of the same springs that busted to begin with?" Sorry I'll pass.
