removing DOD on l92 block?

How are you guys going about removing the DOD on the l92 blocks? Just changing the valley cover to a ls1 or ls6 cover and tapping and plugging the holes in the lifter valleys?

I thought that with the L92 block when using the L92 heads and L92/L76 intakes you just had to switch to the LS2 valley cover which would eliminate the need to plug the holes.
